Christmas 2015

The Christmas celebration in the college was on 18th December, 2015. The programmes were organized by the college union. The programmes were scheduled from 4:30pm to 7:00pm. The college was fully decorated with lights to welcome the Christmas. Then there is the crib near the basketball court. The crib was designed and made by the third years. They almost took one week for the preparation of crib. The programme starts at 4:30pm. The programme starts by the cake cutting ceremony followed by the Christmas dinner for all. After the food, the candlelight dance took over. Then there were a shadow drama. Then Santa Clause entered accompanied by the Christmas Carol. Then all students take part in the Christmas Carol. After the Carol all greet each other and went to make their vacation joyful.

Onam 2015

Onam celebration was held on 20th, August, 2015 in the college. The day was warmly welcomed in the college. From morning onwards the students were engaged in the preparation of flowers for the “Onapookalam”. All the students were dressed in Kerala style. The boys prefer shirt and munde while girls were in sari. Most of the boys were dressed in Premam style (black shirt and white munde) but some were in kurthas. All most all girls wore white sari.  The onam programme was organized by second year students. The programme was well arranged by them. The programme starts by the entry of “Mavelli” followed by “Pulikali”. Then a huge Thiruvathira organized by second years and played by fresher’s was held in front of the college (around the circle).After Thiruvathira, the “Onakallikal” starts. There were many games like “Theetamalsaram”,”Vellamkudi Malsaram”,”Panchagusthi”, etc. Then the great “Vadamvalli” starts. There were four teams’ freshers, second years, third years and PG.The PG group won the game. Then the most interesting item took over “Onathalle”. It was well organized by second years and third years. After the Onathalle “Onasadhya” was served. After having the marvelous sadhya all the students and staffs wish onam greetings each other and go to enjoy their onam vacation.

HISTORY OF LISSAH


Little Flower Institute of Social Sciences and Health (LISSAH) is a centre for education, training and research in social work and related subjects, run by the St. Thomas Province of the Little Flower Congregation (CST Fathers) a Religious and Charitable Trust which works towards improving the quality and dignity of people especially of the poor and  marginalized.

LISSAH is an Arts and Science College established in 2003 affiliated to the University of Calicut and is located at is located at Kaithapoyil in the serene foot hills of Western Ghats in a picturesque setting. The college provides an excellent ambience for education, training and research in Social Work, Mental Health, Mental Health (Psychology) and other behavior sciences. LISSAH offers Bachelor Degrees in Social Work (BSW), BSc Psychology, BSc Computer Science, BCom , BSc Statistics, BA English with Journalism and Audio Visual Communication, Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) , MSc Psychology, MCJ(Masters of Communication And Journalism , MCom and MSc Disability Management.

The key strength of LISSAH is the integration of teaching, research, consultancy and field work in order to ensure the best possible learning environment for staff and students alike. LISSAH always tries its best to redesign the life of the people around it and to improve the quality of their life. LISSAH offers short-term training courses for employees of government and voluntary organizations. It also undertakes field action projects, in the field of community development and community health in collaboration with Health Dialogue Kozhikode, a registered charitable society, which is the field lab of LISSAH. Furthermore, it provides professional expertise in training field action projects, research and policy analysis.

 The holistic development of each and every student at LISSAH is our responsibility. Numerous programs that promote overall development of the students are organized in the college under the initiative of various students’ clubs and associations in LISSAH. These programs cover a wide range of areas of both academic and non academic interest such as seminars, workshops, training, paper presentations, poster presentations, multimedia presentations, debates, environment conservation and so on. The Students’ Association organizes Arts Fest, Sports Day, College Day and all other celebrations at LISSAH for the promotion of the talents of our students. The NSS Unit in the college also provides various opportunities for the students to develop their capacities. Apart from these, students are encouraged to organize various off campus programs that enable them to develop their skills and also grow as socially responsible citizens
